Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore is a teaching hospital for the University of Limerick Graduate Entry Medical School. Third Year medical students rotate through the Emergency Department in two week blocks.
The following timetable outlines the programme for the students during the rotation. The principal priority for students should be to practice clinical history and examination, to devise possible differential diagnoses, and use self-reflection to improve their general medical skills. A wide variety of patient presentations will be available in the ED to expose students to most common presenting complaints.
Students interested in a career in Emergency Medicine may be interested in joining the Emergency Medicine Student Society Ireland (EMSSI). Further information can be found here.
