The Emergency Department has an ongoing programme of clinical education devised around the requirements of the doctors working in the department. As a department recognised for training, the educational requirements of our medical staff are a high priority for the consultants. Teaching is held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday covering different educational topics each day. All sessions are supervised by a consultant.
Ultrasound Teaching is delivered most Tuesdays by Dr Prendergast.
Wednesday Teaching alternates between clinical lectures and Clinical Simulation. Clinical Simulation is organised by our NCHD simulation lead Dr Durriya Kazi and consultant Dr Deirdre McElwee.
Thursday Teaching includes audit and research sessions, along with journal club, and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings.
Depending on the nature and type of session, teaching may be either in person or online via Zoom.
